Chapter 5: Christ in You -The Indwelling Life The greatest shift in all of redemption is this: God no longer dwells with man, He now dwells in man. This is the mystery that generations longed to see, yet only saw in shadow. What prophets anticipated and kings desired to understand has now been revealed in full through Christ. “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27) This is not symbolic. This is not occasional. This is the defining reality of the New Creation. •From External to Internal Under the Old Covenant, God’s presence was external: • upon prophets • within temples • revealed in moments But it was never permanent within man. There was distance. There was limitation. There was separation of access. But through Christ, everything changed. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16) You are no longer seeking a place where God dwells. You are that place. •The Indwelling Spirit At salvation, the Holy Spirit did not come to visit, He came to abide permanently. “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever… for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” (John 14:16–17) This is not a temporary encounter. This is not based on feelings. This is covenant reality. God Himself has taken residence within you. •Hosting the Presence of God Many believers still live as though they must “enter into” God’s presence, not realising they already carry it. They pursue encounters but neglect indwelling awareness. But the New Creation life is not about visiting God, it is about hosting Him. This changes posture completely: • You don’t chase His presence, you carry it • You don’t strive to find Him, He is within you • You don’t perform to attract Him, He abides in you The question is no longer: “Where is God?” But: “Am I aware of Him within me?” •Communion: The Continuous Fellowship “Truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ…” (1 John 1:3) Fellowship is not a moment, it is a lifestyle of awareness and response. It is: • acknowledging Him in your thoughts • yielding in your decisions • listening in stillness • walking with Him in the ordinary This is not reserved for “spiritual moments.” This is the invitation for every moment. •The Inner Witness The Holy Spirit within you is not silent. “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” (Romans 8:16) He leads. He convicts. He reveals. He comforts. But His voice is often gentle, requiring stillness and sensitivity. The more you become aware of Him, the more clearly you begin to discern His leading. •The Loss of Awareness Though God dwells within, many live unaware. Not because He has left. But because their focus is elsewhere. Distraction dulls awareness. Flesh-driven living suppresses sensitivity. Self-focus clouds perception. But the Spirit has not moved. He remains, faithful, present, and ready to lead. •The Glory Within “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Glory is not something you are trying to reach, it is something already deposited within you. It is the very life and nature of Christ, waiting to be revealed through a yielded vessel. This means: • the answer is within • the power is within • the presence is within The Christian life is not about getting more of God, it is about allowing what is within to be expressed. •Living From Within The New Creation does not live from external pressure, but from internal supply. • Love flows from within • Wisdom rises from within • Peace governs from within “Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:38) Notice, flowing out, not striving in. This is the life of the Spirit. •The Key: Awareness and Yielding God’s presence within you is constant. But its expression depends on awareness and yielding. When you are aware: • you listen • you respond • you align When you yield: • He leads • He empowers • He expresses Himself through you Daily Practice of Indwelling Awareness This is cultivated, not forced. Begin to: • pause and acknowledge Him within • invite Him into your thoughts and decisions • respond quickly to His promptings • quiet your inner world to discern His voice Over time, this becomes natural, like breathing. •Activation: Become God-Conscious Shift your awareness today. Not outward. Not upward. Inward. Recognise: He is in you. He is with you. He is speaking. Live as one who carries God. •Prayer Father, Awaken me to the reality of Your presence within me. Where I have looked externally, Turn my awareness inward to where You dwell. Teach me to walk in constant fellowship, To hear Your voice, And to yield to Your leading. Let Christ in me be fully expressed, And let Your glory flow from within my life. I receive this reality, That You are not distant, But dwelling within me. In Jesus’ Name. Next, we move into a critical battleground that determines whether all of this becomes reality: Chapter 6: The Mind of Christ This is where transformation is either established… or resisted. One of our most precious keys to victory is our mind.
