Chapter 18: The Power of the Tongue Now we come to something that reveals the condition of the heart more quickly than almost anything else: Words. Your tongue does not merely communicate thoughts, it reveals identity, releases agreement, and shapes atmosphere. The New Creation life must therefore be reflected not only in what you believe… but in what you speak. Words are never neutral. They carry: •agreement •direction •influence •power From the beginning, creation itself responded to the spoken Word of God. “And God said…” (Genesis 1) Heaven understands the power of words. The question is: do we? •Words Reveal the Heart “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” (Matthew 12:34) Your speech reveals what is truly established within you. You may confess truth publicly, yet your daily words expose: •fear •unbelief •offense •insecurity •pride The tongue becomes a mirror of the inner life. •Life and Death in the Tongue “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” (Proverbs 18:21) Words can: •build or destroy •heal or wound •align or corrupt Many believers underestimate how often they: •speak fear over themselves •reinforce old identities •agree with limitation •empower negativity But your words are not small, they create alignment. •Agreement Through Speech Speech is often the outward expression of inward agreement. When you continually say: •“I’ll never change” •“I’m always struggling” •“Nothing works out” You reinforce alignment with the old mindset. But when your words align with truth: •faith is strengthened •identity is reinforced •atmosphere shifts •Speaking From Identity The New Creation speaks differently. Not because it ignores reality. But because it speaks from a higher truth. “Let the weak say, I am strong.” (Joel 3:10) This is not denial. It is alignment with what God says above present circumstance. Faith-filled speech flows from: •identity •truth •revelation •The Tongue and Maturity “If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man…” (James 3:2) The tongue is one of the clearest indicators of maturity. An unrenewed tongue reveals: •impulsiveness •emotional reaction •lack of self-control But a renewed tongue reflects: •wisdom •restraint •love •truth •Blessing vs Cursing “Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.” (James 3:10) Many believers praise God publicly while speaking: •death over themselves •criticism over others •negativity over situations This reveals divided alignment. A heart rooted in Christ must learn consistency in speech. •Guarding Your Words “Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth…” (Psalm 141:3) Not every thought should become speech. Wisdom discerns: •what to say •when to say it •and when silence is necessary Mature speech is: •intentional •restrained •aligned with love and truth •The Creative Nature of Words Words shape: •internal atmosphere •relational atmosphere •spiritual atmosphere Consistent speech creates patterns. If you continually speak: •fear -fear grows •faith - faith strengthens •negativity - darkness increases •truth - life increases •Words and Authority Authority is often released through speech. Jesus: •rebuked storms •spoke healing •declared truth Your words carry authority when they are: •aligned with God •rooted in truth •spoken in faith Careless speech weakens authority. Aligned speech strengthens it. •Silence and Wisdom Not all power is found in speaking. Sometimes maturity is revealed in restraint. “He that hath knowledge spareth his words…” (Proverbs 17:27) The Spirit-led believer learns: •when to speak •when to remain silent •when words would heal •when words would inflame •Renewing the Language of Your Life Transformation requires new language. You must stop speaking: •from fear •from the old identity •from emotional reaction And begin speaking: •truth •faith •life •alignment with Christ The Key: Speak in Agreement With Heaven Your words should reflect: •your identity in Christ •your trust in God •your alignment with truth This does not mean pretending. It means speaking from revelation rather than from fear. •Living This Daily Practically: •pause before speaking •reject careless negativity •speak life intentionally •bless instead of curse •align your words with Scripture Over time, your speech will begin to reflect transformation naturally. •Activation: Consecrate Your Tongue Today, surrender your speech to God. Choose: •truth over reaction •blessing over criticism •faith over fear Let your words become tools of: •life •healing •encouragement •alignment •Prayer Father, Sanctify my speech. Teach me to speak in alignment with truth, And to use my words to bring life, not destruction. Reveal where my speech has been rooted in fear, Negativity, or the old identity. Give me wisdom, restraint, and discernment. Let my words reflect Christ, Release faith, And carry the atmosphere of Heaven. May my tongue become an instrument of righteousness. In Jesus’ Name. Next, we move into the beginning of the glory realm itself: Chapter 19: Christ in You - The Hope of Glory This will reveal the difference between merely carrying anointing… and becoming a vessel through which glory is revealed.
