Chapter 11: Sons of God - Identity & Inheritance Salvation brings you into the family. But sonship brings you into maturity and function. Many remain at the level of receiving, but never step into becoming. Yet the purpose of God was never just to save you. It was to raise you as a son. •From Children to Sons “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14) There is a distinction in Scripture between: •being a child (born into the family) •and being a son (mature, led, and established) A child receives. A son represents. A child depends. A son carries responsibility. God’s desire is not to keep you in infancy, but to bring you into mature sonship. •The Spirit of Adoption “Ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” (Romans 8:15) Adoption here is not merely legal, it is relational and transformational. You are not distant. You are not tolerated. You are brought near as a son. “Abba” is not a formal title, it is intimate. This means: •access is constant •relationship is personal •identity is secure •Heirs with Christ “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ…” (Romans 8:17) This is where inheritance is revealed. You are not just saved, you are an heir. This means what belongs to Christ is now shared with you: •righteousness •authority •glory •eternal life Not earned. Not deserved. Given through union. •Identity Produces Authority Authority does not come from effort, it comes from identity. A son does not beg, he operates from belonging. When you know who you are: •you stop striving for approval •you stop shrinking back •you begin to walk in authority This is not arrogance, it is alignment. •The Maturity of Sons “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” (Romans 8:19) Creation is waiting, not for believers to gather, but for sons to be revealed. Mature sons: •walk in the Spirit consistently •carry responsibility •reflect the Father’s nature •live beyond self This is the progression: •salvation - identity - maturity - manifestation •Discipline and Sonship “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth…” (Hebrews 12:6) Correction is not rejection, it is sonship training. A father disciplines sons, not strangers. This means: •God is committed to your growth •He refines what does not reflect Him •He shapes your character Maturity comes through: •obedience •correction •refinement • From Receiving to Representing A child asks: “What can I receive?” A son asks: “What do I carry?” Sonship shifts your focus: •from self - to purpose •from need - to responsibility •from receiving - to representing You are now called to reflect the Father in the earth. •Walking Worthy of Sonship “That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.” (1 Thessalonians 2:12) To walk worthy is not to earn identity, but to live in alignment with it. This means: •integrity in private •consistency in character •faithfulness in responsibility Sonship is not just position, it is expression. •The Inheritance Must Be Received Though it is given, inheritance must be appropriated. Many live as though they are lacking. Not because they are, but because they do not see what is theirs. You must: •believe it •receive it •walk in it •The Key: Identity Established, Responsibility Embraced Sonship is where identity meets responsibility. You are not just called to know who you are. You are called to live it out. •Living This Daily Begin to see yourself as: •a son, not a servant •an heir, not a beggar •a representative, not just a receiver Let this shape: •your decisions •your posture •your confidence •Activation: Step Into Sonship Today, shift your mindset. No longer: •“I hope God will…” •“Maybe I am…” But: •“I am a son.” •“I carry His nature.” •“I walk in His authority.” Prayer Father, Thank You that I am Your son. Not distant, not striving. But brought near through Christ. Establish this identity deeply within me. Remove every orphan mindset, Every insecurity, Every hesitation. Teach me to walk in maturity, To carry responsibility, And to represent You well. Let my life reflect Your nature, And reveal Your glory. I receive my identity, And I embrace my inheritance. In Jesus’ Name. Next, we walk into what flows directly from sonship: Chapter 12: The Royal Authority of the Believer This will establish how sons don’t just belong, they reign, govern, and carry Kingdom authority in the earth.
